The YMCA of Grays Harbor is excited to be selected as a charity partner for Safeway Foundation to receive donations from the annual Hunger Is campaign to eradicate childhood hunger. All donations made at the Aberdeen Safeway store will be used to help provide summer breakfasts to kids in need.
“This gift will have a tremendous impact on our program,” said Dan Brown, Associate Executive Director, YMCA of Grays Harbor. We’d like to thank the Safeway Foundation for selecting us as their charity partner and supporting our efforts to fight hunger. We’d also like to thank Safeway Foundation for its dedication to ensuring that no child has to start their day hungry.”
Many children who receive free and reduced meals at school lose access during the summer. This past summer the YMCA of Grays Harbor in partnership with Aberdeen School District served more than 4,600 breakfasts to children in our community to help alleviate this gap.
Hunger Is, a charitable program of the Safeway Foundation, designed to build awareness and raise funds in an effort to eradicate childhood hunger in America. Funds raised through Hunger Is focus on adding breakfasts in and out of school through federal nutrition programs and other means focused on combating childhood hunger and improving other health-related outcomes.
