Our energetic fun filled aquatic environment promotes a lifetime love of the water through quality educational and recreational program opportunities. Our staff is trained to emphasize personal safety, confidence building and stroke technique. It is our goal to make swimming a positive, successful experience for every child. Swimming is a lifetime sport.

BEGINNING SKILLS
Water Babies - Age 6 mo. to 3 yrs with parent.
Skippers: Parent - Child introduction to water familiarization.
Preschool - Age 5 & under. 7 students per class.
Pike: Beginning water familiarization for children 3 yrs & older.
Eels: Front glide kick, back glide kick, swim 10 yds.
Progressive - Age 6 & older. 7 students per class.
Polliwog: Water adjustment, self-confidence, front glide kick, back glide kick, swim 10 yds.
INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED SKILLS
Preschool - Age 5 & under. 8 students per class.
Rays: Deep water introduction with crawlstroke and back swimming, endurance to 25 yds.
Starfish: Crawlstroke, elementary back, breast kick, 8 lengths.
Progressive - Age 6 & older. 8 students per class.
Guppy: Deep water intro, crawl and back swimming, 25 yds.
Minnow: Crawl, back crawl, elementary back, endurance 50 yds, intro to diving.
Fish: Elementary back, breaststroke, endurance to 150 yds.
Flying Fish / Shark: Sidestroke & butterfly, individual medley, 200 yds endurance.

SEA OTTER SWIM TEAM

Boys and girls ages 5-21 who have completed the YMCA fish level skills are eligible to be on the swim team. If you are looking for self fulfillment, improved swimming skills, and fun then you should participate. The rewards are many: travel, meet new friends, and become the best you can be.

Our YMCA offers a Lap Pool with a diving board, Lazy River Water Current Pool, and Recreational Wave Pool, which allows us to offer some of the following items: Adult and Child Swim Lessons, Water X Conditioning and Therapy Classes, Water Kayak Training, etc..

ADULT WATER EXERCISE
Swimnastics -
A water exercise class focusing on improving one's fitness level. This class is progressive, effective, exercise program in a completely impact free environment. Flexibility, strength, toning, and cardiovascular fitness are the primary focus. No swimming ability is necessary. A full body workout in the water through low impact exercises in the rec pool.

Hydrofit -
Enhance your lifestyle with this dynamic, energetic workout for total body conditioning. Develop your endurance, strength and flexibility while progressively increasing your cardiovascular fitness level. Class uses buoyancy and water resistance equipment. An aerobic class in the deep end of the lap pool that utilizes special gear to achieve a full body workout.

Grays Harbor College Water Exercise
Students register through Grays Harbor College. Forms are available at the front desk.

Lifeguard Training Class
Lifeguard Training class is the required certification for those interested in becoming a lifeguard. Students must be 15 years old and pass the required preskills test. Preskills Test: 300 yard swim, submerge to a depth of 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10 pound object.

Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course
This course is NOT designed to teach basic-level swimming skills. It is dedicated to developing the skills and knowledge instructors need to plan and teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program.

Saturday Morning Kayaking
With an emphasis on safety, students will learn how to handle a kayak confidently with the correct paddling technique and all the basic manuevering strokes. Open to grade 8 through adults.

Participants must register. **Times may be subject to change or cancellation due to swim meets.


Super Strokers (Pre Swim Team Class)
Fish level or above, students refine skills and learn swim team drills.

Skills & Drills
For current Swim Team members, who wish to continue working on skills in April.

Do the Birthday Splash!
Let the YMCA host your birthday party this year. We bring the cake or pizza and you get to swim. Prices vary according to number in party. Available Party Hours Saturday 12 - 6:30 pm Sunday 1 - 4:30 pm Call for available birthday party hours.
